Okay……so, I have a confession to make. And if you read the title of this blog you will know what it is. Ha!
Yep, that’s right. I took the plunge. I decided to try and get into the solution over my current addiction (food) and take some action to try and develop a healthy relationship with it.
Weight Watchers, here I come!
After contemplating the last several years of my life I realized that I either am always:
A) Starving myself—by eating ultra healthy, running like a Fein, being a perfectionist in the area of diet and exercise, telling myself I’m awesome
to
B) Binging on junk food, being as lazy as possible, shirking my responsibilities, talking negative towards myself
And it has to stop. It really does. I’m sick of it. It has caused me enough pain and I’m ready to take some action against it.
I honestly never considered Weight Watchers because I’ve never really been “over weight”. I have been heavier at times than others but I never have really gotten above a size 8.
But it’s not just the weight thing that’s an issue. It’s my unhealthy relationship with food; always either obsessing too much about it or not enough about it; eating too much or not enough; Thinking about all the time, judging myself based on what I eat or don’t eat.
ENOUGH I tell you!
I ran into a co-worker of mine at a shower for a friend of ours the other weekend. She looked more amazing than usual—with this beautiful glow about her. and when I told her how outstanding she looked she replied, “why thank you girl, it’s all due to Weight Watchers!”. WOW. It got my little mind to thinking.
And then when I posted this post last Thursday, I realized that I was at the point to where I would be willing to try something different. Very similar to how I felt (in a completely different way of course) when I knew I was done with drinking and wanted to try A.A.
So, I called her. And we talked and talked and shared and I realized that this is something that I need. I need others that are like me, to help me with this unhealthy relationship I’ve had or developed towards food. I need accountability and motivation. And I love the fact that by doing this, I will help others do the same! Weight Watchers offers all of that and more by what I’ve seen and learned and I am very excited about taking this step forward in my life!
I have to be honest with you though. At first, when I first admitted to myself that I have a problem with food and would be willing to try Weight Watchers, I felt like a failure. I felt a lot of shame and guilt and was almost embarrassed telling people what I was doing. It’s hard admitting you have a problem. I’ve done it a lot now and although it does get easier, it’s still hard.
But it’s also comforting to know that I am not alone. I can’t tell you how many people have messaged me telling me their struggles. Whether they are with food, sex, relationships, shopping, alcohol, drugs—everyone DOES struggle with something; with being too perfect, or not perfect enough; with parenting and marriage and work; with being too hard on yourself or not hard enough.Such is Life.
But after I examined why I was embarrassed and ashamed and guilty about confessing to my latest struggle, I realized that it was only because it’s me admitting to you that I’m not perfect.(Again). That I DON’T have it all together; that even though my life has drastically improved over the last 2 years, I still struggle; daily; I still have a very hard time living life on life’s terms.
So there, it’s out of the bag—I’m a food addict and I’m going to do something about it! I go to my first meeting Tuesday at 12. I'll be sure and keep you posted;)
After I tackle this I’m sure there will be something else, but for right now, I’m okay with the imperfections, I’m okay with this struggle, I’m okay with the path I’m on.
I’m growing, learning, struggling—it’s my journey! And when everything is said and done, I freakin’ love my journey. I love the path I’m on.
And that’s enough right now for me.
“Life has meaning only in the struggle. Triumph or defeat is in the hands of the Gods. So let us celebrate the struggle!” ~Swami Sivananda

Well, Hello Blog World! It's me, Jennifer!
I must confess I feel a little silly. Silly about starting a blog and thinking I have anything worth writing about that people will actually want to read. Silly because I do love to talk about myself. Silly because I feel like I’m typing into a huge void. “ Helllloooooo!!! I’m here. Are you???” but regardless of all that. Here I am. My first debut into the latest, hippest online venue we call “the blog world”.
First of all, I’m positive I would not be sitting on my couch typing my first blog (OMG) if it were not for my very best friend for over 24 years, Catherine Dufour Moore. I could (and will) write an entire blog of our 24 year friendship. It truly is my most precious and valued friendship of all and she is more like a sister than just a best friend. I can’t remember my life without her and I can’t imagine my life without her. You can follow her iblog and see for yourself how awesome she is!
Why am I blogging?? Well, I have had several people over the years contact me and tell me how my life (mostly in small, almost insignificant ways) has helped them. Werid, I know. But I do feel that each of us has a special calling and a special purpose here on earth and if I can help another human being by words, inspiration, or by the way I live my life, then that is exactly what I want to do! You just never ever know how your life is touching someone else’s. I could write a different blog everyday about the people (that are probably completely unaware) that have touched my life. Maybe I should do that. Hmmm??? So many, many options as what to talk about!
But here I am. Alone in my little cozy apartment somewhere in Mississippi typing my first blog. I am 28 years old (almost 29..yikes!). I am naturally blonde. And I am a true aquarius;) What IS a true aquarius, you might ask?? Funny because I wondered the same thing. More often than not, when I meet people for the first time I hear the phrase, “you must be an aquarius”. And of course I am because my birthdate is Janurary 21. but I knew that that phrase meant a lot more than just the date I was born. I naturally have a huge interest in personality types, psychological make-ups of people, and astrology! So, after studying my sign for many years, this is what I have come to believe people mean when they say, “you MUST be an aquarius!”
Aquarius is the most unpredictable sign of the zodiac.
The Aquarius loves a party. Anytime, anywhere is their motto.
It is not unlikely that an Aquarius will consider a wake a good place to meet chicks. Aquarians tend to be nostalgic about the 1960s because that was the last time they could be naked in public and get away with it.
Aquarians love to be naked.
It is even better if they are naked and crocked.
97.4% of the Night Train consumed in the past thirty years has been consumed by Aquarians.
Almost every Aquarian will claim to have seen Jerry Garcia's image in their Froot Loops at least once.
Froot Loops is a very Aquarian cereal. So is Rice Krispies, since it will engage in a friendly chat with the Aquarian as he or she is eating breakfast. Count Chocula is off-limits, however. It belongs to the Scorpios.
Aquarians are the only people in the zodiac who can play volleyball with themselves.
And they frequently do.
Aquarians use the phrase "Dude, man..." frequently when describing philosophical concepts.
Aquarians have out-of-body experiences on a daily basis. If you are talking to an Aquarian and he or she zones out, consider the conversation hopeless. He or she is talking to the guy three feet away from you.
Aquarians are fun because they channel people. Plus, if you tell them to, they will run around naked.
Aquarians like astronomy because they've been to all those places. If you want to know what the food is like on Saturn, ask an Aquarius. They can also walk on water if they try really really hard. This usually happens in the bathtub.
Aquarians can allow themselves every possible vice on the planet, and don't think twice about it. That is why they piss everyone else off. They are cosmically entitled to do this.
Most rock stars are Aquarians

So, there you have it. The majority of the above phrases describe me quite perfectly. I’m quite a character;) I’m also just a girl who is open to sharing her life with the rest of the world if in any way (even very small) it brings good to others. I look forward to sharing my struggles and triumphs and hope that it helps more than it hurts;)
As always,
~Jennifer
