Fini part deux

Fini part deux

Somehow I made it. I finished my very last prerequisite for OT school yesterday at 9:30am. And I am VERY happy to announce that I pulled off a B in Physics!!!  I don’t know how that happened but I’ll take it!

And then my 3 week-break commenced.

I got my hair did by the lovely Kate McNeely. Just a little trim and a few highlights for the start of summer.

I ate powdered donuts to celebrate.

And then I ate cupcakes.

And then I got to eat at Spice Ave with some of my very favorite ladies.

And then I think I even ate a few more cupcakes;)

I am looking forward to spending these next three weeks visiting family and friends, being pool side as often as possible, doing lots of yoga, going to lots of meetings, cleaning out my closet, and just relaxing and taking it pretty easy.

Infact, in a few short hours I will be on my way to Meridian to be with my mom for Mother’s Day.

What a beautiful Saturday it is! I hope everyone is enjoying it to the fullest—sharing it with loved ones and being in nature as much as possible.

Happy May, Bloggers!

Love and Hate

Much has happened this last week of cultural importance and is extended onto this week with a lot of cultural and personal importance….

The devastating Tornadoes hit our State and surrounding States…with lots of loved ones lost in the natural disaster

I finished my last Physics test this morning…still waiting on the results but feelings of impending doom is looming on the horizon

My final is Friday at 8am.

I work my last shift at Anthropologie Wednesday

I have a huge gas bubble under my left rib that showed up on my chest x-ray. Yes it hurts and yes I have terrible gas. Be forewarned!

Osama Bin Ladin was killed yesterday (supposedly)

I loved what my friend, Jason Armstrong, posted on his facebook page….

“Osama bin Laden already buried at sea? Yeah right. The government would never lie about this, would it? I'd say there's a 50% chance bin Laden is sitting in Malibu eating ice cream right now.

But I really liked when Jason quoted Martin Luther King, Jr….

I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” —Martin Luther King, Jr.

Because that, my friends, nails it on the head for me.

Yes, we supposedly killed the man who was in charge of 911 and I can not say that I am sad he is dead. But, his ideology is still very much alive and are we not aligning ourselves with his ideology by celebrating and rejoicing over his death?!?!

Let’s be the change we want to see in the world.

Let’s drive out hate with love!

Thank you Jason for posting that!

My intention this week will focus on the healing energies of my mind and body—and how they may radiate forth and emanate goodness, love, and compassion to all who cross my path. And to those who are in mourning and  in pain.

May God continue to bless America

Hackers and Sickness

Hello, Friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve blogged. It seems that life continues to get crazier and crazier the deeper into Spring we get.

Saturday, My Gmail account (and thus, my blogger account) were hacked! The hacker sent out messages to most of my contacts saying that I had been mugged in London and needed them to send money to help get me back to the States. YIKES! It took me 2 days to recover my account. Thus far, I have no explanation as to how I was hacked or why. So, word to the wise—change your password every few months!

Monday after school I came down with a very violent virus. I went from feeling decent to feeling like I wanted to die within 3 hours! My temp spiked to 103 and I had aches and chills like nobody’s business! I took some phenegran and when I awoke, I knew my fever had broke. Needless to say, I spent all of Tuesday on the couch sleeping. I literally slept ALL. DAY. LONG.

I woke up today feeling much better but still weak and exhausted.

Whew. Glad that is over with. I hate being sick. Especially when my mama isn’t here!

The next few weeks are going to be the busiest of my whole semester.

With work, Relay for Life, a 4th Physics test, AND a comprehensive Physics Final……I won’t have much time to do anything but the task at hand. I honestly can not wait for May 5th to get here—I will be done with Physics, Relay will be over, and I’ll have almost a full month to enjoy myself before Grad school starts! Whoo-hoo!!!

I just wanted to drop in and say hello! I have not forgotten about my infamous blog! Nor my bloggers! My oh My do I have a lot of blogs to catch up on!

I hope everyone has a blessed Easter!

I’ll be traveling to Meridian late Saturday night after work to dye eggs with my family...A Nanney family tradition!

All my love!
Jen

Family Day

Yesterday I got my first official taste of grad school. UMC held “Family Day” for the OT class of 2014. I can not believe I just typed 2014. It feels alien-ish.

My mom and dad came over. And my brother Clint joined in as well! We got to meet our whole class. I think there are about 35 of us. and I think that I am the oldest. ha! We were introduced to the staff and team at UMC that will help us through these next 3 years. We also toured the campus seeing where I will be in class come May. The only thing I kept thinking was, “I can not believe I’ve made a 3 year commitment. WHAT AM I DOING???”. But then it was always followed with, “That’s right, Jennifer…this is what normal people do..they make commitments and keep them.”. Oh yeah. I almost forgot;)

For as studious and Type A as I am, there is a fairly LARGE part of me that is absolutely and totally carefree. That part of me wants to just travel the world, have no schedule, no plan…..not worry about bills, laundry, work, or what day it is.

But, I know I’ve made the right decision. And in 3 years when I am working and making my own money, I CAN travel the world…..and worry less about bills....but I’ll probably still have to do laundry;)

After we finished the family day, my dad came over and hung my pictures on the wall! It sort of made my new place “official” in my mind;) My dad is so awesome….and so is my mom. I hope one day I have a marriage as strong as theirs. And are as unselfish as they are. And that I love my kids as much as they love me and my siblings. I know I’ve said it before, but I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I would not be where I am today without them and their support. My success is largely due to them. And there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for them and ask Him to bless them 10 fold.

Here are some pictures of our lovely Friday together;)

and then today, I worked from 10-7. I packed my own lunch (with about 7 points, I believe)

and I exchanged a dress for this cool shirt.

Man, I’m not going to miss working retail, but I am going to miss the clothes at Anthropologie. None compare.

Time for a little R&R before I hit the books in the morning for Physics.

Goodnight, bloggers.

Goodnight, moon.

WINNING

Today was one of those days that make me both grateful and elated to be alive.

You know the days when everything comes together and you feel connected to everyone around you??

Yeah, I agree. They rarely happen. But when they do, MAN, is it good!

I am proud to inform you that I made a 90 on my Physics test I took this morning. From an F to an A baby! Now, THAT’S what I’m talking about!

I had an extra lovely yoga class with the beautiful Tara Blumenthal.

I went to the gym.

My sponsor gave me my 18 month chip this evening.

I attended a meeting in which unity and brotherhood abounded.

I didn’t eat any sugar. Or white flour (those are the things I gave up for Lent).

I’m collecting boxes.......as I’m MOVING THIS SATURDAY!

Unlike my previous plans, my parents have decided to move me this weekend. Yikes! Just thinking about boxing this place up makes my stomach churn.

There are a few things I will miss greatly about living here:

The Trace that I run on every morning.

And my roommate.

(she's gonna kill me for posting this pic! but Mac, I love you and will miss you more than you know!)

I will miss her greatly. But, luckily we will still see each other plenty!

Winning.

That would be the word to sum up my day!

*Thanks, Charlie Sheen.*

New Pad

 Guess what, Friends?

I picked up this little sucker at 3.

Yep. Key to my new pad.

This is where I will call home (hopefully for the next several years).

Front Door
Back door

 Kitchen
Living Room (I LOVE the corner windows!)
 Eating area
 Stairwell
 My Bedroom!

A built-in bookshelf in what will be my study and yoga room!

I’m glad to be back in my favorite neighborhood!

Won’t you be my neighbor?!

In other Jennifer Nanney news, I have my second Physics test next Wednesday. I hope I don’t fail this one;) My move-in date is tentatively scheduled for March 19th.  Between working, studying, moving, Relaying, Yoga-ing, and meetings—my life is wam-bam-thank-you-mam- full.

Full of goodness that is;)

I would rather my life be full and busy than bare and idle.

Please stop by for lemonade or tea if you’re in the hood. We can sit on my balcony together and listen to the Stones.

Happy Weekend to YOU!

Week in Review

I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday again.

Whew. What a whirl-wind of a week!

I’ll pick up where I left off from my previous post (if you missed the last post, click here).

After failing my Physics test and the mini-meltdown that occurred after that, I knew exactly what I needed.

My family.

Fortunately for me, my family had scheduled a weekend trip to Tennessee to be with my grandmother on her 88th birthday (My dad’s mom).  So, I jumped in my truck and headed to Memphis!

I had the most amazing time with my family. The only person missing was Clint. He had to stay and study. But it is very rare that all of us are ever together at one time. This time, we got pretty dang close.

Our “vacation” started off with a family trip to Whole Foods. I don’t think anybody loves Whole Foods more than the Nanneys do!

by the way, have i mentioned how much i adore my nephew?!?!

We all enjoyed a family lunch at Panera Bread.

We then all loaded up into our family’s suburban (that is 15 years old, by the way) and headed to Jackson, TN to our hotel. All of us children (including the baby) stayed in 1 room. It was just like old times.

We drove over to Dresden where my grandmother lives and got to visit with her before heading out to eat with the majority of the Nanney family in Martin, TN.

After eating, we went back to my grandmother’s house and ate cake and watched her open her gifts.

My grandmother is so precious. She is so patient, gentle, kind, and loving. My dad reminds me so much of her. She always has a smile on her face. always.

It was such a lovely time. I am SO glad that I got to go and be with my family.

I even got to spend an extra day in Memphis with my youngest brother, Brian. It was so good to spend quality time with him. I honestly can't remember the last time just he and I got to hang out.

Of course, the biggest high light for me was getting to spend 3 days with my nephew. Words can not express how much this little fella means to me. He’s growing so quickly. Already crawling and attempting to walk.

Upon returning to Jackson, I hit the ground running. Monday was a full day of school and then yesterday I had my interview for OT school. I must say that it went better than I expected. I will hear in 3-4 weeks whether I get in or not. The results are now out of my hands and I actually have a lot of serenity about the entire situation.

I also signed a lease yesterday in Belhaven. I will be returning to my favorite neighborhood very soon.

So much change in the past week.

So much to process.

So much to be grateful for.

I am blessed.
