random ramblings

Well, spring break is officially over. I hope you enjoyed your St. Patty’s Weekend…..

I got worse instead of better (like I figured) so on this overcast Monday I find myself home from school with a whopping sinus infection. I am feeling a little better than yesterday but not well enough to venture out.

So I’ve been sleeping, eating, watching tv, sleeping some more…..i was actually really ready to get back in the grind today. Only 6 more weeks of classes for us and then finals. And then we’ll get a 3 week break!

Yesterday I watched My Week With Marilyn which was fantastic. Michelle Williams is truly an excellent actress. I also finally watched Ides of March because who isn’t in love with Ryan Gosling?!

I’m really hoping to find The Descendants today because I’ve been dying to see it.

Tomorrow is the first official day of Spring….even though it looks like we’ll be in the 80’s all week---kind of more like summer than spring (as usual).

I was really looking forward to yoga tonight and getting back on a regular schedule with Pure Barre

Guess I’ll just have to wait a few more days.

I’m really not a good sick patient. I am entirely too active to be doing nothing for 2 days. My back hurts from sleeping so much.

Maybe I should write a gratitude list.

Or eat another pint of ice cream.

Perhaps both.

Happy Monday, Friends!

BE GRATEFUL TO EVERYONE

Without others, we would have no chance at all to develop beyond ego. So the idea here is to feel grateful that others are presenting us with tremendous obstacles -- even threats or challenges. The point is to appreciate that. Without them, we could not follow the path at all. Walking on the path of the dharma is connected with dealing with our neurosis. But if there were no neuros-ees, we couldn't develop any neuros-is. Therefore, we should feel very grateful to such persons. They are actually the ones who are pushing us onto the path of dharma.

~ Chogyam Trungpa, from "Transformation of Bad Circumstances," in Training the Mind and Cultivating Loving Kindness, page 92.

This is a basic tenet of psychological growth -- that we can only make so much progress on our own, then we need to be in relationship with others to see our shadow stuff reflected in our relationships.

This is something I have been thinking about a lot lately--friendship and relationships. I'm working on a post dedicated to just the term Friendship and what it means to me.

But I found this tonight while researching and thought it was too good to not pass along.

I have not been grateful to everyone in my life lately. and the above paragraph reminded me why I should to so.

Always room for improvement in this girl's life;)

Thank goodness Monday is almost over!

Is It Thursday Yet?

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is well rested for this dreary, sad, and foggy Monday morning!
(note sarcasm please)

This morning I struggled to get out of bed. More than I have struggled in a long time.

Nothing a few cups of joe's won’t fix, however;)

This weekend was pretty awesome.

I got to eat yet another birthday dinner with my dear friend, Cleve.

We ate at Fratesi's...it's a little hole in the wall Italian place and it is AMAZING. I highly recommend you try it if you haven't.

Saturday, the weather was uber-amazing. I was on a euphoric natural high all freakin’ day.
I ran 7 miles.

WOOT!

And didn’t do a bit of school.

Infact, lately, I think I’ve been going through a mini-crisis in which I have no desire to do anything I’m supposed to do.

This could be classified as a major case of the “Fu*&-its”.

On Saturday, I thought about joining the Peace Corps (once again) and just going. Going and going and going and going....you get the gist;)

But, I didn’t. I went to a benefit at Hal & Mal’s for Northern Uganda and rocked my socks off.
Yesterday evening I held my first team meeting for Relay for Life. My team rocks! So far I have about 12 people!

We decided on our team name….

The Planeteers!
(from Captain Planet).

Our goal is to raise $3,000.00 by April 29th.

So, if you want to donate……..;)

And now on to my ever-full half week because Thursday,

We leave for NEW ORLEANS!

Yoga workshop with non-other than my yoga teacher, Scotta Brady,

Shopping on Magazine St,

Vegan Restaurants galore,

I’m ready!
